Mental Health Clinician
A graduate of Dalhousie University in social work (Bachelors & Maters of Social Work degrees), Nancy White has more than 25 years experience working in mental health with individuals and family. She has worked in specialty programs:
- for adolescents in crisis (EH Bridges Program);
- for individuals who have experienced abuse by members of the clergy (for United Church & for Roman Catholic Church;
- for youth and adults with eating disorders (EH HOPE Program);
Nancy has also worked in shelters for female adolescents (Naomi Centre) and abused women (Bryony House in Halifax) . She has worked on two inpatient mental health units: with adolescents at the Nova Scotia Hospital and with adults at St. Clare’s Hospital.
More recently, Nancy has spent the past 15 years developing and facilitating educational and support groups and family therapy for parents, partners, and others who are supporting loved ones with eating disorders. In 2012 she received the Eastern Health CEO Award of Excellence for this work. She has also presented on these areas at provincial and national conferences.
Her speciality area is family therapy, with a sub- specialty in working with families dealing with eating disorders. Now retired, Nancy is excited to be able to provide this service in the community.
